Lagos, Portugal…What a bore!
If there is a mistake we (or at least, I) made in this holiday is to include the town of Lagos in our itenary. I mean, it is a nice small town and has nice beaches, but absolutely nothing else to do. Just to get an idea, I feel as if we are in Marsaxlokk or Birzebbugia on holiday and spending three whole days in such a town.
Yes, it might look nice at first, for the first half day, but then what else is there to do? To top it all up, the place is full of tourists, English and Australians, has no Portuguese character at all, and is like an extension of Blackpool or Poole, the only difference being that you find no Indians or Pakistanis here, just Brazilians.
The Sun, The Daily Mirror, The Daily Telegraph and other British news papers feature in stationeries, drunken lobster red Britons walking around creating havoc in the cobbled narrow streets and hot weather with no air-conditioning are the Lagos I never expected to find.
Counting down the hours to leave this town, tomorrow at this time…I console my self in the fact that here I managed to rest and sleep, read the 7th and last book in the Harry Potter series and spend some time on MSN catching up with what everyone is doing.
Next and final destination…Lisboa, Portugal’s capital city and the current capital city of the European Union, as Portugal holds the Union’s presidency until this December.
